Alex and Nancy Ma set up 1A Communication in 1991 in Australia (in 1979 in Hong Kong). 1A Communication is an award winning multicultural marketing company, providing extensive service to meet clients promotional needs.

1A was the winner of the 1994 Multicultural Marketing Award for promoting New World TV to ethnic market. Their creative and design work for Advance Bank also received the same recognition in 1995, and for L. J. Hooker in 1996. 1A was the finalist in 1997’s Small Business Award as part of the EAC’s Multicultural Marketing Awards. 1A was once again the winner of the 1998 Multicultural Marketing Award. In the year of 2001, 1A was the finalist of The Community Award in Multicultural Marketing National Awards.

1A offers a broad range of services and expertise to its clients ranging from marketing proposals, research, advertising strategy and planning, direct media buying, copywriting and translation, public relations, event design and management. It provides clients not only with professional work, but more importantly the ability to turn work around within the shortest possible time. 1A provides creative, artwork, photography, illustration, web strategy and design, multimedia production and artwork output in on-demand printing in house.  1A is also equipped with large format plotters for the output of large prints, banners, signs and transparencies all under one roof exclusively for clients.

1A also has extensive experience in event management. They were appointed to design and manage various large scale official events, such as the Dinner for Chairman Jiang Zi-men (President of China) where 800 VIPs were invited with high security requirement, the official launch for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (The 3rd largest bank in the world) and China Southern Airline (the largest in China) in Australia, as well as assisting in numerous official functions for Hong Kong, China and Australia Governments among the others.

1A also provides professional services and collaborates with other leading multicultural advertising and marketing companies in consultation, planning and creative. This led to winning of numerous awards in Australia.

Alex and Nancy Ma announced their retirement from business for further studies in July 2007 in a press conference in Sydney. They are a highly respected couple in the industry and the ethnic community. Their contribution to the industry and helping those in need in the society have been greatly recognised.
